What it says is that for during the term in which a senator is elected, they cannot be appointed to a position of authority within the government that the salary or entitlements were increased during their service. You say no big deal, but it shows his contempt for the constitution from the get go...
Article I of the constitution enumerates certain powers to the federal government, limiting their authority over the states.... The feds like to abuse the general welfare clause and the interstate-commerce act to enforce its will upon the states and directly impact our daily lives. The fact is the federal government was meant to be limited in size and scope, it has exceeded these boundaries since Lincoln and has been growing by leaps and bounds for the last century.
Since when does the government have the RIGHT to take trillions of our dollars and use them to shore up / purchase controlling interest in privately held corporations? Since when does the government have the authority to tell privately held organizations they must take the money or risk an audit that would ruin their credit rating? Since when does the government have the power to loan money to a corporation and refuse to take it back because they want to maintain their unlawful control of a privately held corporation? Where in the constitution does it allow for federal healthcare? Where in the constitution does it allow for a national civilian police force? Where does it provide the authority for the cap and trade program?
Did you hear his speech today where he was promising to enact legislation to prevent economic disasters like the one we just experienced from happening again? Wasn't that why Woodrow Wilson enacted the federal reserve? Hmmm I think you should be concerned, VERY CONCERNED, over what this man is doing to our beloved country. CALL ME A WING NUT, CALL ME AN ALARMIST.. GO AHEAD... SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS...

It's more serious than that and you know it. The Solicitor General and the proposed Supreme Court Judge are all in a Conspiracy together, this is a Coup.
ReplyDeleteAmericans need to get back to the roots of our republic and educate themselves on the Constitution and what the Founders intended. Too many of us don't understand the Constitution and haven't even read it. Heaven knows it isn't taught in schools.

ReplyDeleteand why is a health care system so bad? explain it to me. the articles i just read at whatobamaisdoing.com made his healthcare reform and other actions seem pretty reasonable to me.
The debate over the power of the central government over the state's has been going on since he 1800's. it has gone both ways so tell me whats so bad? maybe its the people running the government, not the system. capitalism is great, but when a group of individuals own so much of the nations wealth that it becomes detrimental to the rest of society, the oh so terrible SOCIALISM sounds pretty nice to me.
dudeismydog, he did say what Obama is doing. Did you read the blog? As far as your comments about capitalism, we haven't had capitalism in this country for decades. Everything is regulated by the government such that people don't decide what they want. The government decides what choices they can have. It tells car companies what kinds of cars to make. It regulates food and drugs so heavily that the only companies that can afford to bring drugs to market are huge conglomerates because of the millions of dollars it costs to get FDA approval. Health care is in a mess BECAUSE of government regulation, not because there isn't enough regulation. The financial industry is probably the most heavily regulated sector of the economy. Again, it collapsed because of government interference.
ReplyDeleteThe notion that government is fair and just to everyone is ludicrous. True capitalism, where people and business engage in trade where both parties get what they want, is the only fair method of doing business. There will always be corrupt people in any system, and when you have the government and Wall St. working together to regulate money and markets, it's a disaster waiting to happen. The same is true for the health care industry.
Government intervention can only make things. worse. Free markets are the answer.
I'm always perplexed when I hear people bring up the Founding Fathers. Do you really know who they were and what they believed?
ReplyDeleteFor example, let's take the Federalist Papers. Most of these were written by Alexander Hamilton, with the others written by James Madison and John Jay.
Hamilton had a very pro-central government view. When he tried to create a National Bank, Thomas Jefferson opposed it on the grounds that it was not specifically stated in the Constitution that the Federal governemnt could do so.
Hamilton argued that Article I Section 8 gave the government these powers and the court agreed (Maybury v Madison).
Ironically, Jefferson and Madison would use the same argument to complete the Louisiana Purchse.
So when you say the new HC law is unConstitutional, you're fighting 200 years of precedent.
